About Thi
Thi is an American writer and photographer currently residing in her hometowns of Palacios and Jonestown, Texas after spending the past five years traveling to Vietnam and working as a barista in Boston & Cambridge, Massachusetts. In her free time, she can be found writing, reading, watching and analyzing films, learning more about coffee, connecting with others, and just thinking…thinking a lot.
As the daughter of traditional Vietnamese refugees from a small coastal town in Texas and someone diagnosed with moderate severe hearing loss, Thi often felt that much of her childhood was confined behind a hedge. Due to this isolated upbringing, she threw herself into art and cinema as a way to express herself. As a young girl, Thi developed her people-watching skills from observing customers from behind the counter of her parents’ commercial shrimping supply shop. Her passion is telling stories through the magic of film and photography, because she believes that we all have at least one great story to tell.
Thi’s main goal is to encourage audiences to look at the world from a different angle and come to understand one other despite our differences. Her love for science, art, culture, architecture, and language coalesces into imaginative and impactful visuals and prose. She also strives to be a life-long learner.
She is a proud University of Texas at Austin Communications (Radio-Television-Film) alumna and also identifies as an INFJ/P and Enneagram #2.
